Volume 1 Chapter 6: A Refined Scoundrel

Inside the single-patient rest room at the school infirmary, Ning Chu sat on the snow-white bedding, hands cupping a glass of warm glucose water, sipping it little by little.

In both his past and current life, this was the first time he'd ever passed out—also the first time he'd ever had glucose water.

Slightly sweet. Not bad, actually.

He lifted his gaze and glanced at Wen Yang and Zhang Shaoqing standing off to the side. His mouth twitched.

The protagonist and the villain of the hentai novel are both here fussing over him right now...

Too bad he wasn’t a girl. He didn’t even like men. This world wasn’t some derivative of an otome romance game either—it was a male-oriented hentai novel.

If it weren’t for the slim possibility that things could still turn around, and the fact that he didn’t know this world well enough yet, he’d have dropped out and bolted long ago.

“Hey Ning Chu, why don’t you faint again later?” Zhang Shaoqing asked with a smirk. “Then we could bring you back here and skip more training.”

Ning Chu turned his head, too lazy to respond. He shifted slightly and leaned back against the bedhead, eyes half-closed as he gazed out the window.

One hand subconsciously pressed over his abdomen, as if that could suppress the pain.

But this pain wasn’t the same as regular gastrointestinal discomfort. It was more of a twisting cramp that gradually spread—not intense, but relentless.

It’s torturous.

Suddenly struck by a thought, Ning Chu opened his phone and jotted down a note:

September 16 – Abdominal pain.

Even though it seemed ridiculous, if this pain lasted a few days and happened again next month, he’d definitely need to go to the hospital.

As absurd as it sounds... what if it really is a period?!

But this was the hentai world… Could you even trust a hospital here?

He distinctly remembered writing a plotline mimicking Byouin Ecchi Massage once.

Talk about digging your own grave.

“Don’t tell me it’s actually a period...” Ning Chu muttered low under his breath, rubbing his temple in frustration.

Wen Yang, still playing a mobile game beside him, looked back. “Did you say something?”

“Nothing. Just... my stomach hurts a lot.”

“Well, you’re in the infirmary, right? Ask the doc for some meds,” Zhang Shaoqing said distractedly, eyes glued to his phone as he got up and walked toward the door—only to smack face-first into a column.

“Damn this stupid pillar!”

Watching Zhang Shaoqing furiously kick the column twice, Ning Chu really couldn’t reconcile this goofy idiot with the ruthless villain he supposedly becomes later in the book.

Once again, he sighed inwardly.

Then he looked over at Wen Yang—this supposedly pure, never-even-held-hands-until-now-protagonist—who had even had his first date cockblocked by him last night.

How does this guy become the kind of hentai protagonist who sleeps with every girl he meets?

A few moments later, Zhang Shaoqing returned holding a small bottle of medicine. “Here, for your stomach. One pill at a time.”

“…You haven't even talked to a doctor yet.”

“Doc’s busy, man. There’s like seven or eight girls waiting outside. Lucky you fainted early—otherwise you’d be stuck on a bench out there.”

He tossed the medicine onto the bed and added, “C’mon, this kind of small problem? I could’ve bought the meds from a drugstore myself.”

Ning Chu didn’t argue. He popped a pill and downed it with his glucose water, then went back to listlessly hugging his stomach in silence.

Wen Yang finally looked up from his game and eyed his half-reclined roommate. “Still not feeling well?”

“No... not really.”

“Want to take the morning off?” Wen Yang offered sympathetically. “Just say Shaoqing took you to a sketchy Sichuan place last night and you got food poisoning. The homeroom teacher should approve it.”

Zhang Shaoqing complained from the side, “How could there be a problem? We all ate it and we’re fine.”

As the three were talking, the door to the rest room opened.

A middle-aged man entered.

Ning Chu instinctively looked up, only to freeze the moment his eyes landed on him.

A well-dressed, straight-laced man in a fitted suit—with a face so elegant yet cold it almost glowed with a villainous aura.

It was their homeroom teacher.

“How are you feeling?”

The homeroom teacher walked to the bedside, giving Ning Chu a quick once-over. But Ning Chu shrank his neck a little awkwardly, clearly avoiding eye contact.

“If you’re fine now, then head back to training. And you two—been slacking off here for what, half an hour?”

Zhang Shaoqing fired back righteously, “I’m taking care of a sick roommate—how’s that slacking?”

“He looks fine to me.”

“He still has a stomachache! We went out for Sichuan last night and it gave him food poisoning.”

While Zhang Shaoqing was arguing with loud conviction but weak logic, Wen Yang’s attention shifted toward Ning Chu, clearly noticing his roommate’s unnatural expression.

Wen Yang took a few steps closer and asked in a low voice, “Still not feeling well?”

“No…”

Ning Chu sighed, rubbing his temples with frustration and guilt.

He just felt uncomfortable seeing the homeroom teacher.

In the novel, the man had used his position to pressure and manipulate female students. Who knew if that sort of thing had happened here yet?

After all, this was the hentai world. Tons of scenes in the original story blatantly violated moral, legal, and ethical boundaries. It might’ve been harmless wish-fulfillment when he wrote it, but if those things happened in reality?

Pure, visceral disgust.

Why the hell did he even write that kind of book in the first place?

“Alright, you two head back to training,” the homeroom teacher said, not wanting to bicker with Zhang Shaoqing anymore. He waved his hand dismissively. “I’ll stay here and keep watch. What, you think I didn’t hear you two playing mobile games outside earlier?”

“Gaming’s a stress reliever! Helps the patient stay in good spirits—that is caretaking!” Zhang Shaoqing kept arguing, but still left unwillingly, grumbling, “Ugh, it’s so damn hot. I hate training…”

Wen Yang followed with a resigned shrug.

Seeing this, Ning Chu suddenly got up from the bed in a hurry.

“Wait for me!”

“You sure you’re okay?”

“Good enough! Might as well let the next girl use this bed. I’m going back to training!”

The homeroom teacher glanced at Ning Chu’s still-pale face and frowned slightly. “Fine. Go ahead, then.”

. . . . .

By late morning, the sun had grown scorching and blinding.

Just stepping out of the infirmary made Ning Chu squint and stumble, eyes stung shut from the sunlight. He quickened his pace to catch up with his roommates—only to hear Wen Yang’s surprised question:

“You really don’t like the homeroom teacher, huh? Kinda like how you used to act around Shaoqing. Like you’re trying to avoid him.”

“Bullshit!” Zhang Shaoqing interjected. “Me and Ning Chu have always been tight!”

Ning Chu rolled his eyes at him.

Of course he was wary of the supposed “main villain” at first. This guy was ten times worse than the homeroom teacher in the original story. But after spending time together, Ning Chu realized Shaoqing was just… a bit of a dumbass.

As long as the story didn’t develop the way it was written, this idiot would stay an idiot—and stay a virgin forever, too.

“Hey, let’s order takeout for lunch?” Zhang Shaoqing said, holding up his phone. “We can hit the free delivery minimum.”

Wen Yang shook his head. “Nah, I’m going to the cafeteria—got lunch plans with my girlfriend.”

“Ning Chu—whoa! When did you get all fired up?”

Wen Yang turned to look, only to see Ning Chu positively radiating energy and resolve, staring right at him.

“I’m eating in the cafeteria too! Let’s sit together!”

“…Huh?”

That damn woman dares to make a move now?!

Maybe this was the time for him to team up with Zhang Shaoqing.

Ning Chu hooked an arm around Shaoqing’s neck and smiled warmly. “You’re coming too!”

“I don’t wanna fight for seats at the cafeteria! What do his relationship problems have to do with us? I’m out!”
